Week 31: Strong Kicks… You’re Getting Close 💙
Week 31 of pregnancy: baby development, common symptoms, antenatal care and warning signs to watch for this week.

🌸 Week 31 of Pregnancy
👶 Your Baby
📌 Size & Growth
Your baby is now about the size of a coconut 🥥
✔ Around 41.1 cm long
👉 Definitely not tiny anymore… your baby is taking up real space now 😄
🧬 Development
✔ Your baby is getting plumper
✔ The skin is becoming smoother (less wrinkled)
✔ Body fat is increasing every day
💡 This fat helps your baby:
- regulate temperature after birth
- look more like a full-term newborn
💫 Movement & Activity
✔ Your baby is very active
You might feel:
- strong kicks
- stretching
- rolling movements
💡 Your baby is also:
👉 practising sucking (important for feeding later)
🧠 Interaction
✔ Your baby can now recognise voices
💙 So yes… talking to your baby actually matters
(and counts as bonding, not just “talking to yourself” 😄)

🤰 Your Body
📏 Monitoring & Check-ups
At this stage, your doctor or midwife may:
✔ measure your uterus (fundal height)
✔ check your baby’s position
🧭 Baby Position
Your baby might be:
- head down (ideal for birth)
- breech (head up)
💡 Don’t panic:
👉 many babies turn later
👉 some don’t engage until labour starts
😴 Tiredness
Feeling exhausted?
✔ Completely normal
👉 Your body is doing a full-time job (plus overtime 😄)
🍼 Feeding Your Baby
Have you thought about feeding yet?
✔ Breastfeeding:
- protects your baby from infections
- supports immunity
- reduces breathing and stomach problems
✔ But also:
👉 Not everyone can breastfeed
✔ Formula feeding + love + bonding = also a great start 💙
💫 Baby Movement
Your baby’s movements should now be:
✔ strong
✔ regular
✔ noticeable
🚨 Golden Rule
If your baby’s movements:
- decrease
- or change
👉 Do not wait
👉 Contact your doctor or midwife immediately
